2026 is unofficial, as of 12:24 a.m. ET on November 4. 2022 is the certified canvass. Hatched districts are not compared. Nothing on this page calls the race.
Change in Hochul's two-party margin, in percentage points, from 2022 to 2026. Blue moved toward Hochul. Red moved toward Blakeman. This is the change, not who leads.

Tap an election district
Each shape is one election district. The swing view shades how Hochul's two-party margin changed. It does not shade who is ahead. Hatched grey means the district is not comparable, and no swing is estimated for it. The 2022 and 2026 buttons shade the margin in that year, for the same 808 districts.
A district you pick lights up neon cyan if it moved toward Hochul, and neon magenta if it moved toward Blakeman. Picking one of the largest moves also lights the rest of that list.

In 2022, Lee Zeldin led Kathy Hochul in Suffolk by 16.7 points on the two-party vote: Zeldin 330,337 (58.4 percent), Hochul 235,736 (41.6 percent). In this 2026 snapshot, Hochul leads Bruce Blakeman by 0.8 points: Hochul 270,778, Blakeman 266,738, about 50.4 percent to 49.6 percent of the two-party vote. That is a 17.5-point swing toward Hochul.
The 2026 count is unofficial. It is the Suffolk County Board of Elections feed via Enhanced Voting as of 12:24 a.m. ET on November 4, 2026. Absentee, affidavit and military ballots are still out, and the margins will move. This page does not call a race.
The results page shows Hochul at 50.3 percent and Blakeman at 49.6 percent of all ballots, including 711 write-ins. This map leaves write-ins out and uses the two-party margin. Both pages use the same candidate totals.
Blue is the change, not the winner
A blue district moved toward Hochul. It may still be led by Blakeman. Smithtown is the clearest case: the median comparable district there moved 9.8 points toward Hochul, and Blakeman's lead in that median district is still 22.4 points. Use the 2026 button to see who leads. Use 2022 to see where Zeldin led.

184flipped to Hochul
Of the 1,070 election districts on the 2026 map, 808 pass a strict test: the same town and district number, shapes overlapping by at least 90 percent, and at least 100 two-party votes in both years. Those 808 cast 79.6 percent of Suffolk's 2022 two-party gubernatorial votes and 79.7 percent of the 2026 two-party votes in this snapshot.
782 of them moved toward Hochul. 26 moved toward Blakeman. Counting each district equally, whatever its size, the median moved 15.5 points toward Hochul. Among the 742 with at least 250 two-party votes in both years, the median move is 14.9 points. The countywide 17.5 weights votes. The median does not, so the two numbers are supposed to differ.
Added together, the 808 swung 17.4 points, from a 16.8-point Zeldin lead to a 0.6-point Hochul lead. That is their own votes. It is not an estimate for the grey districts.
In 2022, Zeldin led 627 of the 808 and Hochul led 180, with 1 tie. In this snapshot, Blakeman leads 444 and Hochul leads 362, with 2 ties. 184 flipped from a Zeldin lead to a Hochul lead. 165 of those flips had at least 250 two-party votes in both years. 3 flipped from a Hochul lead to a Blakeman lead, all in Huntington.
By town
Every comparable district in Brookhaven (204), Islip (161), Riverhead (19), Southold (13) and Shelter Island (1) moved toward Hochul. Babylon moved the furthest: a median of +22.1 points, and its median district went from Zeldin +21.2 to Hochul +4.7. Brookhaven's median swing is +19.4, and the median district there is still a narrow Blakeman lead, 1.8 points. Islip's median swing is +18.0; the median district is still Blakeman +9.5.
East Hampton moved the least. Hochul already led 15 of its 16 comparable districts in 2022, with a median margin of Hochul +30.5, and the median swing is +5.6. Huntington's median district went from Zeldin +8.3 to Hochul +1.1. Sixteen of the 26 districts that moved toward Blakeman are in Huntington.

Median swing and the two median margins are across comparable districts only, one number per district. A negative margin means Zeldin (2022) or Blakeman (2026) led the median district. Shelter Island has one comparable district, so that row is that district. A town name zooms the map there. On a small screen, swipe the table. The town name stays put.
Where it moved the most
These are the largest swings among districts with at least 250 two-party votes in both years. The color scale stops at 30 points, so several of these are the same darkest blue. The number here is the full change. A flip means the two-party leader changed. Tap a row to light that district. Light these five keeps the whole list on the map.
Toward Hochul
Toward Blakeman
The third flip toward Blakeman is Huntington 146, from Hochul +13.8 to Blakeman +1.0, a swing of โ14.7. It had 109 two-party votes in 2022 and 105 in this snapshot, so it is under the 250-vote floor and off the list. The largest swing in the full set of 808 is Islip 84, at +51.4, on 232 two-party votes in 2022 and 302 in 2026. It is off the list for the same reason.
23 of the 26 districts that moved toward Blakeman also have fewer two-party votes in this snapshot than in the 2022 canvass. Late ballots can still change a margin, especially where the 2026 total is lower. That is a reason to read those rows as incomplete, not a reason to drop them.
What the grey means, and what this map does not do
262 districts stay hatched in every view, including 2022 and 2026. 219 share a name with a 2022 district, but the shapes overlap by less than 90 percent. Part of that is a real boundary change. Part is the way the 2022 file draws the shoreline and the census edge. This page does not try to separate the two, and it does not estimate a swing. 30 districts overlap enough but had fewer than 100 two-party votes in one of the two years. 13 are new since 2022: Brookhaven 303 through 308, and Huntington 179 through 185. Islip 226 was in the 2022 file and is not in the 2026 layer, so it is not drawn.
Tap a hatched district for its 2026 votes. Those votes are labeled as not part of the comparison. Where the only problem is the 100-vote floor, the 2022 votes are shown too, so the exclusion can be checked. They are still not colored, and they are not in the 782, the 26, or the 184.
There is no 2024 layer. Suffolk has not published election-district results for the 2024 general election. The county's 2024 pages are countywide and district summaries. A presidential comparison has to wait for that file. This map is Governor 2022 to Governor 2026 only.
How the number is built
The margin in a year is Hochul's two-party votes minus the Republican nominee's two-party votes, divided by the sum of the two, in percentage points. The swing is the 2026 margin minus the 2022 margin. Positive means movement toward Hochul.
In 2022, Hochul's votes are the Democratic and Working Families lines. Zeldin's are the Republican and Conservative lines. In 2026, the county file already combines those lines: Democratic and Working Families for Hochul, and Conservative, Republican and Vote Affordable for Blakeman. Write-ins are in neither year.
Countywide, the unrounded margins are (235,736 โ 330,337) / 566,073 = โ16.71 points, shown as โ16.7, and (270,778 โ 266,738) / 537,516 = +0.75 points, shown as +0.8. The difference of the unrounded margins is 17.46 points, shown as 17.5. District margins on the map are rounded to one decimal the same way. A flip uses those rounded margins: the leader changed. A tie is not a flip.
Shape overlap is the area the 2022 and 2026 shapes share, divided by the area of the two shapes combined. The 2022 shapes come from the Rosenblatt file and are used only for that test. The map draws the 2026 Suffolk County GIS boundaries.
The color runs from red through a neutral tone to blue and stops getting darker at 30 points in either direction. 77 comparable districts moved 30 points or more toward Hochul, so they share the darkest blue. The panel shows the uncapped number. Hatched grey is not a zero. It means the district was left out.
